Part XXII: The Ghostly Directive
The ethereal figure of the young girl floated above the sinister stone altar, her spectral finger pointing down at it with an otherworldly urgency. On the altar, the investigators could see a framed portrait of a youthful Lady Elizabeth Campbell, her visage regal and enchanting. Beside the portrait lay a mysterious gem, its facets glittering with a malevolent allure.
Samuel moved cautiously toward the altar, his senses tingling with the presence of arcane energies that seemed to course through the very air. As he examined the book placed there, a sense of unease washed over him. He turned to the others, his voice heavy with concern. "I cannot read this book. It's written in an ancient, lost language," he explained, his frustration palpable.
Part XXIII: The Cryptic Note
Upon further inspection, Samuel discovered a hidden note tucked away among the pages of the cryptic tome. The words inscribed upon it appeared to be a translation of a ritual, a dark and forbidden incantation with ominous implications.
As Samuel shared this discovery with the group, Janet's face paled with a mix of astonishment and trepidation. Her internal struggle became evident, torn between revealing her own cursed connection to this malevolent tome and keeping her secret hidden from her long-time friends.
But before Janet could find her voice and decide on a course of action, Samuel's words cut through the tension. "The note mentions a ritual, a means of prolonging life," he explained, his tone heavy with foreboding. The weight of the revelation hung in the air, leaving the investigators to grapple with the sinister secrets they had unearthed and the haunting connection between the ancient tome, Lady Elizabeth Campbell, and Janet's own cursed manuscript.
